Description

Horizon International Distributors was established May 15, 1988 by Gilbert (Gil) Dubé and Barry Ecklund. Horizon first made its mark hauling pork, opening a substantial Quebec market. Over time, trucks were added to service more areas and increase our market share between Quebec and Western Canada.
In 1993, we purchased our present location in Winnipeg adding warehousing and a better distribution facility. Two hundred and sixty feet were added to the building in 2001, enabling us to add dock space, including a large cooler and freezer, inside parking for our city delivery trucks, and a shop area to repair our trucks and trailers. In January 1998 Gilbert Dubé purchased Barry Ecklund’s shares of the business. Luc Dubé, Gil’s son, was already involved in the company and acquired minor shares. Luc has been General Manager since 2000. In 1999, Termat Enterprises Ltd, owned by Terry Matthews, was hired by Horizon. Termat Enterprises has over 20 trucks and 30 trailers operating mostly in the US and Western Canada under the Horizon umbrella. This opened up a lot of doors for Horizon whose strengths were in eastern Canada, mostly the Quebec market.
