Description
Todays fabrication and construction industry is very demanding, but, at the same time, can be very rewarding and holds a great future!
There is more to welding than just "striking an arc" or "burning rod". There must be an understanding of the proper edge preparation, technique and control of the weld process necessary to produce a sound weldment!
If one learns the proper set up and welding skills, it will help secure a great working future when the situation demands a high quality weld. When an individual has made a decision to focus his/her time and efforts into learning a new profession, he/she deserves as much help and dedication to set them in the right direction.
At R&D Weld Performance, students initially receive a 1:1 teacher to student ratio. Once an appropriate level of training is completed, the ratio will not exceed a ratio of 4:1. This will guarantee that more attention is given to the individual and assure that he/she gets the most of what we have to offer to help build and enhance their skills.
As the primary instructor for R&D, I have been involved with the trade for the past 18 years, and during this time, I have had extensive experience in the following welding processes;
- GTAW ( Gas Tungsten Arc Welding) also referred to as TIG, with carbon steel, stainless steel, aluminum, Inconel, hastelloy, Chrome-Moly,
- GMAW ( Gas Metal Arc Welding) also referred to as MIG on carbon steel, stainless steel, aluminum,
- FCAW ( Flux Cored Arc Welding) with carbon steel and Stainless steel,
- SMAW ( Shielded Metal Arc Welding) also referred to as Stick welding, on carbon steel, stainless steel
I have used these processes to work to the following codes and standards;
- CWB W47.1 & W59.1
- CWB W47.2 &59.2
- ANSI/ASME B31.1 : Power piping
- ANSI/ASME B31.3 : Process piping
- CSA N285.0 : Class 1, 2, 3, & 4 Nuclear Code
- CSA B51 : Repair/Alteration of boilers, pressure vessels and piping
- ASME Section III Nuclear Class 1, 2, 3, and 4 : parts, components and supports
- ASME Section 1 : Manufacturing/ Assembly of power boilers
- ASME Section VIII Division 1 & 2 : Repair/Alter Pressure Vessels
