ALL ABOUT ME My name is Shamaila Ahmed /Maqsood. I moved to Canada in 2001 from Pakistan. I come from big family; I have 8 siblings, and am second oldest. I have been helping my mother around sibling to take care of them. I got married at early age, hand my son when I was 19. The reason coming to childcare is an impact of my childhood and my son. I always wanted to raise my children differently the way I was raised, it’s not my parents did not raise me good; still some of the experiences had a great impact on my childhood. My hobbies and interest are scrapbooking, love being around children, helping others, networking, poetry reading and writing, novels, decorating and organizing etc. lot more. I am very friendly, soft hearted, open minded, reliable, trust worthy, flexible. What I like about me most; When I hear my co – workers saying they love to be around me, they love the way I interact with them, and say they wish they can work with me, My customers walking up to my family and telling that I am blessing child for them. Parent walking up to me and say our children always talk about me, they missed me when I am on my holidays, or walking up to my director and telling that they liked my work and I am awesome. Children running up to me that they want Shamaila as a teacher, getting hugs every moments and when they come up to me and say they love me, makes me feel so special. I am a mother of 8 years old and running Mutasim's Loving and Learning Center licensed by Sonshine Dayhome Agency in Taradale by Genesis Center. i am diploma holder in ECE field and have 6 years of experience working in various childcare centers, various fun and educational activities will planed for your child's day to be fulfilled such as crafts, singing, art and painting board games and other educational games , story time and much more, I am very friendly and passionate about my career PERSONAL STATEMENT I am teacher/ Early Childhood educator because I want to make a difference. My primary reason why I have decided to pursue this career is because I am a mother first of all and secondly I feel strong desire to positively influence and educate children. I feel that one of major satisfactions is being a educator to enrich a child’s life. This is very profound and satisfying way to spend a day at work. I recognize that patience, understanding, compassion, and sensitivity are essential to this profession, which I am whole- heartedly prepared to provide. The ability to learn is one of the most important developments of our species. My experiences as baby sitter for my siblings and community parents, volunteering, and especially some of my personal experiences from childhood have reinforced my desires to be an early childhood educator. I believe that my different academic and volunteer experiences as well as my oral personality make me a well-qualified candidate for a career in early childhood education field. My academic experiences, volunteer experiences as well as my experience in the work force have fostered a tremendous personal drive, and have helped me to become an independent, self-supporting, and hardworking individual. My experiences have thought me a great deal of discipline and time management, which are essential in childcare profession. At Whitethorn Learning Center, I was responsible planning and implementing stimulating lessons in all areas for my group with very diverse needs. Finally, due to this exceptionally beneficial experience, I have learnt many strategies and methods that will help me grow as a great teacher/ early childhood educator and in return benefit children in my care. Working as supervisor gave me opportunity to be open more and be a good role model for co-operative co –workers. It was such a cherished experience since I was given the opportunity to diverse my own methods about how to best educate children in our care. It also allowed me to develop further my interpersonal skills that I have developed throughout my work experience as well as my education experience. My strongest noticeable skill was I have been successful in establishing a good rapport with children, co-workers, my employer and my peers whom I interacted. I believe that I possess insight and determination that I can offer to my students. I would be an asset to the center and ultimately asset to the profession. This portfolio is a collection of puzzle pieces intend to further give you an idea who I am as an early childhood educator. My objective is to reveal to you my strengths that make me passionate and effective early childhood educator. MISSION STATEMENT I welcome you to my services, where every day is a busy day filled with activities that will foster individual, social, physical, emotional & cognitive growth in a nurturing, fun atmosphere. I believe that every child should have the opportunity to discover their own individuality through both adult guided activities and through free play. MY PHILOSOPHY I am a mother of a lovely son so I know what it means to care for and have responsibility of your own child. Families look for childcare home away from home. They want a place where their child can grow in confidence and skill in all area of development I believe that each child is special and unique and they learn through interaction, play and socializing. Children learn about themselves, others and the world around them through play. Play is a child’s fundamental, natural response to his/her environment. I believe that children should be children and should enjoydeveloping and practicing their skills while socializing, exploring and playing with peers. As an early childhood educator my responsibility is to me sure what I offer makes use of many play and learning materials that help the child gain confidence in their abilities on their own pace. Guided by a responsible adult who is nurturing, giving, caring and a positive influence, a child will flourish in positive, clean and friendly environment.
