I have been a mortgage broker with Ottawa-Carleton Mortgage for the last 28 years and have been working in Ottawa since 1985. I walked out of college into this financial career, and can honestly say that I still love what I do. To look back at an industry where each day we used to send our mortgage applications by courier to the lenders in Toronto, to today where everything is sent instantly over the internet, is truly amazing. No longer am I tied to a desk to work, everything is now online and accessible at the touch of a keyboard. It has never been so quick and convenient to finance the home of your dreams.
As a mortgage broker, I still deal with dozens of financial institutions, including the “big banks”, credit unions, and many life and trust companies. It’s with these varied sources of funds that enables me to have “better than bank” rates and products to fill many needs. I have financed all types of real estate from single family homes to commercial plazas. My specialty though is the everyday purchase and sale of residential homes, with a fondness for dealing with first time home buyers.
