Hecla Island General Store

I have sailed on Lake Winnipeg since 1957. In 1968 I moved to Gimli and started sailing north, each year farther. Our first port of call after leaving the south basin was Hecla Village where we had our first visit to the General store. We were delighted to find the owners helpful and knowledgeable about the area. I believe the Williams family owned the stor e then. This store has been our first destination as we head north each year on our cruse up the lake. This is where we stock up on the items we have forgotten to bring with us, (critical)!! Meet John again after a winter and buy some little things we rely don't need (at reasonable prices) to make sure this store stays here!! and the last business we visit on the way north will still be here to send us off in the future.
