Description

The Burntwood Regional Health Authority (BRHA) is responsible for the operation and administration of facility and community based health programs and services at a regional level within the Burntwood Region of Manitoba. The BRHA is responsible within the context of broad provincial policy direction, for assessing and prioritizing those services and programs based on evidence based needs and developing and managing an integrated approach to health care delivery.
The Regional Health Authorities Act legislation came into force on April 1, 1997. It sets out the conditions under which the RHA's are incorporated, as well as defining duties and responsibilities of the Regional Health Authorities, for ensuring effective health planning and delivery.

This is the only hospital in Thompson and the only bigger/central hospital in the north. They are able to provide most basic care needs and have a large maternity ward. I have used the emergency care once and the maternity care once. During my care provided my emergency my wait was short and I was happy with my care although they didn't provide any follow up care (which I ended up needing). The maternity care I received was also alright. I say alright because the it was extra busy that night and I was left alone most of the time. They also didn't get me my birth plan requests and when they did it was too late to follow through. My final product was great but once again the hospital was busy and my room was neglected and was not clean. There were 2 others sharing my room at the time and you can imagine how grouse the bathroom was.
