TIFF Bell Lightbox opened its doors to film lovers of all ages on September 12, 2010. This creative centre provides a permanent home for TIFF – bringing all of TIFF’s programming and initiatives under one roof. Located at Reitman Square at the corner of King and John Streets, TIFF Bell Lightbox is in the heart of Toronto’s dynamic entertainment district.
Designed by world-renowned architectural firm KPMB, TIFF Bell Lightbox is a 150,000 sq. ft., five-storey building featuring five public cinemas, two galleries, the Film Reference Library and three learning studios. Inside, visitors gather in a three-storey public atrium and can enjoy two restaurants, a lounge and event spaces. The building provides an essential meeting place and transformative experience for film professionals, educators and film lovers from around the globe. With the generous support of contributors including Founding Sponsor Bell, the Province of Ontario, the Government of Canada, the City of Toronto, the Reitman family (Ivan Reitman, Agi Mandel and Susan Michaels), The Daniels Corporation, Major Sponsor and official bank RBC, Major Sponsor BlackBerry and Visa, TIFF Bell Lightbox provides a long-needed home for all of TIFF’s existing programmes as well as new initiatives, community and industry events. Running 365 days a year, this permanent home further solidifies TIFF as a cultural leader, bringing the world’s diverse communities together for the love of film.
