Universal Rent-A-Car

I was thoroughly disappointed in my rental experience with Universal and would never recommend that anyone give them their business. The upholstery of the Toyota Matrix we rented was so filthy that I didn't want any of my clothing, bags, etc. touch the car - and I'm not a very high maintenance traveler. When we pointed this out to the representative, they said that this is what we should expect at the rate we paid. I've rented throughout Ontario and internationally with other companies at a similar rate and have never seen a car in this condition. Regardless of the rate that we paid, they clearly did not take any pride in the quality of the cars they provide to customers or in customer service. I could live with the interior if they treated me with any decency. But put simply, they were impatient, rude, disrespectful and clearly shortsighted in laying all the blame on the customer.
