Description
Craniosacral therapy is very a gentle but exquisitely profound treatment.
There can be startling changes immediately after the first session, though with some issues, it may take a few treatments and the changes will be more subtle. How much change you can expect? That depends on the type of issue or restriction and the amount of energy the body has invested in making it work 'normally', despite the trauma.
When we have received a trauma- the fascia that surrounds the spinal cord and brain can tighten up and reduce the amount of cerebrospinal fluid that is supposed to bathe and nourish that area. Craniosacral therapy uses the system of fluid surrounding the brain and spinal cord and its relationship with the fascial tissue throughout the body to reduce restrictions of the nerves from the spinal cord and brain. Fascia surrounds the nerves, muscles, organs and bones of the body, which is why we may be working on the head but we can feel a restriction in the natural movement of the liver or a problem with the knee or ankle!
Trauma comes in many forms- physical, emotional, mental, spiritual- but these are just a few of the conditions that Craniosacral therapy can help:
- Birth trauma ( vacuum, C-section, forceps deliveries, etc)
- infantile disorders, including colic
- Depression
- Chronic pain
- Tinnitus and chronic ear infections
- Immune disorders
- Head injury and neurological dysfunctions
- Vertigo
- Whiplash
- Autism
- Learning disabilities
- Post-traumatic Stress Disorder, grieving the loss of a loved one, etc.
- TMJ dysfunction
- Post surgical problems
- The results of abuse in it's many forms
- Emotional traumas
