Description
Located in beautiful Tofino, on Vancouver Island, Canada, the Schooner Restaurant is the West Coast's premier seafood and chop house, and about to celebrate it's fiftieth year of operation. This building was originally constructed as the hospital at the RCAF Squadron Unit at Long Beach during wartime. At the end of hostilities, the building was moved by barge down Tofino Inlet and up to its present location on the corner of Campbell and Second Street, which at time was in the middle of the forest. Great food has always been part of this building. In 1949, it was Vic's Coffee Bar, then, later we became the Lone Cone Cafe. Sometime in the early 60's we finally became the Schooner with the famous 'Candle Light Room'. The Schooner has been part of the Bruce family since 1968. The ship sailed into the dining room in 1974, along with the Pacific Rim National Park, which helped Tofino become a worldwide tourist destination resort.
