Description
Crime hurts people. It violates personal and community well-being. It creates obligations to make things right. It also calls for a healing response by the community, specifically Christian in our agency: towards victims, offenders, and the impacted community.
Founded in 1966 in BC, M2/W2 Association – Restorative Christian Ministries, is a Christian-based agency that reaches out to British Columbia’s offender community primarily in the Fraser Valley but throughout the province as resources permit. Its core program has always been one-to-one visitation of men and women in prison to offer friendship and support while they are incarcerated, and when they return to the community. Also, together with Catholic Charities, M2/W2 operates Vancouver/Fraser Valley CoSA (Circles of Support and Accountability), part of a community of 15 programs from coast to coast. It works with sex offenders released from federal prisons to buffer their reintegration into the community, while holding them accountable to commit to “no more victims”. “Hidden Treasures” also works to help with financial stability, and to work with socialization of prisoners on passes to the store. A fourth program in development during 2013, NOLA (No One Leaves Alone) promises to help prisoners reintegrate into society as prosocial citizens. M2/W2 offers training sessions annually to all our volunteers. Approximately 350 M2/W2/CoSA/Hidden Treasures volunteers work with over 600 men and women annually. Staff work with several hundred more who need volunteers.
