Description
Environova’s pre-cursor company Horticultural & Recreational Consultants Ltd. was founded in 1973 by horticulturist and landscape planner Stan Kochanoff of Falmouth, NS and John Morley, an Ornamental Horticulture professor at the Nova Scotia Agriculture College in Truro. The two who were both graduates of the Niagara Park’s Commission School of Horticulture remained partners for several years before John Morley moved to Edmonton, Alberta to take a manager’s position with Edmonton Parks. Stan Kochanoff became the sole owner in the late 70’s. His wife Peggy Kochanoff is a contributing artist with the firm.
Since it’s beginning, the company has been involved with providing landscape architectural services, recreation and environmental planning and arboricultural consulting services throughout the Maritime Provinces. The firm also provides consulting and landscape design services to Maritime Landscape Services Limited, an associated full service landscape company.
In 1989, the company name was changed to Environova Landscape Group Inc. to reflect the environmental planning issues of the 90's. In 1994, the firm expanded its base service to include urban and rural planning renaming the company to its present name Environova Planning Group Inc. Over the years, the firm maintained offices in conjunction with its former associated company Maritime Nurseries Ltd. in Windsor, Dartmouth, Bedford and now in Falmouth in association with Maritime Landscape Services Ltd. a firm specializing in the transplanting and preservation of large trees throughout Nova Scotia and New Brunswick.
Since it’s founding, Environova has employed landscape architects, architects, environmental planners, arborists, and horticulturists while working with other allied professionals on design and study teams on a wide range of projects. Projects include institutional, government, commercial, and residential designs and implementation.
Environova often acts as a sub-consultant to other firms whose organizations do not possess in-house expertise in landscape, arboriculture and environmental planning and participates in joint-venture studies where its professional expertise is required.
Environova has been involved with a number of urban and Rural planning projects involving land use, development and recreational studies
In the arboricultural field, Environova is the leader in Atlantic Canada for landscape vegetation preservation and appraisal work.
