Upon entering the store, I did not see the sign to check bags with the store staff, which of course was my mistake. However, I was verbally accosted by a staff member at the checkout counter, and told "we don't want you to come back." She even mentioned the RCMP, which was completely outside the scope of the situation. It became so tense that I decided it was best to forgo the purchase and exit. As I walking out, she shouted after me, "Oh well, it's your loss!" It is understandable given the location that thefts should be guarded against, but this is not how to establish a secure shopping environment. Fair enough; I won't return, and I will warn others of the uncourteous behaviour of the store staff.
