Description

Gloria studied extensively with Virginia Satir in the 1980s and gained first-hand experience and knowledge of her methods. She has taught in China, Latvia, US and Canada in order to spread Satir's methods to as many people as possible. She streamlined Satir's original family reconstruction to a 3 hour process that takes participants through an in-depth exploration of family of origin patterns and themes.
She has written articles and chapters on family reconstruction and the process of change. For over 30 years, she taught a master's level family of origin course that incorporated family reconstructions as the primary method of learning. She developed a second academic course on Satir methods, entitled Peace Within, Peace Between, Peace Among, to emphasize the universal benefits of Satir work for all people. In 1984, Avanta, now the Satir Global Network, awarded her The Living Treasure award for her lifelong contribution to Satir work. Gloria has given many clients the benefit of Satir oriented therapy and has supervised and trained many therapists in the Kitchener-Waterloo area in a family systems approach to their work. She continues to work in private practice in Waterloo, ON.
