Think if you’re been to one Firken, you’ve seen them all? Wrong. Each franchise takes its own approach to pub life, and the Friar & Firken is no exception. It’s half-buried underground, you have to wade through a haze of cigarette smoke to get in and on game days it’s loud and obnoxious. But the food is pub fare done extremely well: try the spicy chicken sandwich or share a plate of nachos, made with homemade chips and fresh guacamole. Grab a game console and challenge your neighbour to a round of trivia, played on the TV.
