I had a fender bender on my car, caused by another party causing a small scratch on the bumper of my vehicle. This was going to be paid by ICBC as the other party was at fault and did not effect my insurance. I had the option to not paint the bumper as it was a small paint damage however, decided to have it fixed properly. I took the car to Craftsman and asked for a quote prior to repair to make sure the cost comes under $2,500. This was to make sure that I do not have to declare the repair at the time of sale of my car (repairs over $2,500 have to be declared). The estimate came back around $1,500 and I was told that it should not be much more. By the time job was completed, Craftsman Autobody charged ICBC over $3,300 due to replacing the bumper instead of only painting it. With the new repair total, now I have to declare that I had accidents costing more than $2,500 at the time of sale of the car. Had I know this, would have opted out of fixing it altogether.
