Description
My name is Andy De Santis and I am a registered dietitian with an unmatched passion for helping you reach your diet, nutrition and weight management goals. I completed my undergraduate studies in nutrition at Ryerson University before proceeding to the University of Toronto Dalla Lana School of Public Health where I gained accreditation as a registered dietitian (RD) and a master's level graduate degree in public health nutrition (MPH). I am a member of both the College of Dietitians of Ontario (CDO) and the Dietitians of Canada (DC). For those who may not know, registered dietitians such as myself are part of a strictly regulated health profession whose primary goal is to help Canadians make better food choices in order to improve their health.
In addition to my graduate level education, I have completed training placements at esteemed institutions including The University Health Network (where I also spent several years as a volunteer), The Canadian Sugar Institute and the Canadian Diabetes Association, where I was also employed following graduation. Working with these organizations provided me with an exceptional educational platform and opportunity for professional growth, but my passion for one-on-one interaction inevitably led me back to pursuing private practice. I am operating my nutrition counselling and weight management services out of the Health in Davisville Clinic at 101-1910 Yonge Street at Yonge & Davisville.
My philosophy is simple, Eat Up! That is to say I encourage people to enjoy food and to use food to elevate themselves to a greater state of health and wellbeing. I firmly believe that healthier eating can change your life and I preach that small changes in your diet over time will lead to significant positive effects on your health and happiness. No gimmicks, no miracle diets, just a gradual introduction to smarter, healthier eating. I want nothing more than to help you improve your diet and make a meaningful contribution to the betterment of your health.
My services are primarily geared towards individuals who are looking to manage their weight, improve their physical or sport performance, improve their digestive health and reduce their risk of chronic disease (ie: lowering LDL cholesterol, triglycerides, blood pressure and so on through dietary means). Those seeking to improve their eating habits for the purpose of enhancing overall health and wellbeing are also an excellent fit for my services.
If you are unsure whether or not your nutrition concerns fall within my area of expertise, feel free to contact me and schedule a free 10 minute phone consultation.
