Nobody is prepared for the news. At first is the panic, you can see the doctor talking to you but you hear nothing. Your brain is paralyzed and the panic rises inside of your stomach. What am I going to do plays in an endless loop in your head.
Everyone thinks it won’t happen to them. I thought the same. Then those five words shake your whole world to its core. I’m sorry, you have cancer. After I started to accept that this was happening to me and not someone else, I took action. I went through the cancer package they had provided me. It allowed me to start the process of trying to understand what I was up against and gave me a foundation to start formulating questions that I would be asking my Oncologist. I began doing my own research on the internet to find information and I realized that the more I was reading, the less stress I was feeling. I was still scared but I was getting a better understanding of my form of cancer and I was starting to feel positivity seep back in. For the first time since I heard the news I had HOPE. With so much information out there, I was unable to find one website where you could find everything. I felt all the energy I was putting into my research could have been put to much better use. After I was in recovery I decided I didn’t want anyone else to have to waste time looking things up. I had all my research so I would create a one stop website that you could find anything that you could possibly need to know about cancer. Now everyone can have access to the links and information that I have gathered. This is a registration website, you need to become a member to have access to all the information. The registration is $20 dollars for one year and this money will be donated back to different Canadian Cancer Associations.
