Since graduating with my MSW, I have studied at the Toronto Psychoanalytic Society as well as the Hincks (now Hincks-Dellcrest) Institute. I have participated in workshops in a variety of areas, notably working with trauma, Emotion Focused Therapy and Cognitive Behaviour Therapy. I was a member of the Hincks Institute’s Infant Team for a year and developed a good understanding of childhood development and parenting issues. I am a member the Institute for the Study of Self Psychology and the Toronto Psychoanalytic Society. I worked for over 20 years as a counsellor in a program at George Brown College and have a good understanding of issues related to studying and making vocational choices.
Personal Statement: My approach is collaborative. We discuss what brings you to therapy, what you want from the process and how we can work together effectively. You may well have come to see me with no clear idea as to why you are anxious or depressed. You may just have a feeling that your life could be better than it is at present. Our work together could have one or more of several goals: Helping you gain a better understanding of yourself and what you want out of life; guiding you to be more self-reflective and less reactive; helping you with grief and working through a significant loss in your life; identifying patterns of thinking and behaviour that get in the way of rewarding relationships, of being the kind of parent you want, or of reaching your potential at work or school.
