Services for individuals (including children & teens), couples and families. Specialties Mental Health – I have worked both in the health system and community with individuals affected by mental health conducting assessments and counselling to those with diagnosis. However, I do not like to use labels, for two people diagnosed with depression can have very different experiences with this. Children And Youth – I have worked in schools with children and families. I have conducted groups and done trainings and support to staff. I love being creative and using play therapy and other tools such as music and hobbies. Interpersonal Relationships (Couples/Families/Parents) – I love working within relationships and to see the dynamics involved. I like to think I have never seen someone for “individual therapy” as I can’t help but bring in and discuss others in that individual’s life. I enjoy working with couples and families. I took an advanced clinical course in sex therapy (it can be hard for some to approach this subject but it’s a very important part of a relationship.) Crisis, Trauma and Grief – I took advanced clinical classes in this area although sometimes difficult it is a vital work that I feel comfortable with. I have responded to natural disaster, suicide debriefings, and assaults among others. However, there are the common crises and trauma that can come into anyone’s life and it needs to be addressed. I have been able to partner with workers within the Grief Support Program with AHS and co-facilitate groups and presentations in High River and area. Spirituality – I have also taken advanced clinical classes in this area. The courses I have taken are not specific to any one faith but an acceptance that this can be an important part of a client’s life and I feel confident to discuss this if a client so chooses. Community Development and Connection – I feel it is of utmost importance to connect clients to other supports in the community and in their circle of trusted relationships.
