Description
My name is Dr. Harriet Johnston. I'm a Registered Psychologist with the College of Alberta Psychologists.
Through my private practice "Cowtown Psychology" I mainly provide psychological / psychological assessment and consultation services for school age children to young adults.
My main service is consultation, assessment (psychological / psychoeducational / school neuropsychological) and diagnosis of learning disabilities, emotional/behaivoural, and neurodevelopmental disorders (e.g. ADHD) and giftedness - for children, adolescents and young adults.
My secondary service is assessment for adults (my recent neuropsychology training focussed on middle aged and older adult populations). Solution focussed / brief counselling for youth (limited availability based on presenting concern).
At Cowtown Psychology I offer:
* Direct billing with Alberta Blue Cross
*Online versions of questionnaires and rating scales for easy accessibility
*IPad administration of IQ and achievement tests (motivating for children and teens - appear to like this format better than the paper and pencil tests)
*Flexible hours - weekend and evening hours available on request.

* Office easily accessible by pubic transit
* Wheel chair accessible
I am ready to assist you so please don't hesitate to call me today. Please read further to find out more about my background and training.
My Biography:
I've practiced School Psychology in both community agencies large urban school boards for over 20 years, since I began my provisional psychology training in 1995. Since 2004, my roles in the schools have been at the system level focussed on school-board wide services for students with exceptional needs and most recently system-wide management of psychological services.

I took a further educational leave in 2013-2014 school year to pursue a position as a Postdoctoral Researcher in School Neuropsychology at the University of Calgary. I was involved in functional neuroimaging studies focussed on children with ADHD and Autism along with researchers at the Alberta Children's Hospital.
I continue to work as an occasional Sessional Instructor at the Werklund School of Education. I've taught classes in the teacher training program (Educational Psychology) as well as in the Graduate program (Understanding ADHD, Psychometrics and Statistics, Cognitive and Neuropsychological Assessment ). In the Fall of 2016, I will take on a new role as Clinical Supervisor for Masters and PhD students in the School and Applied Psychology and Counselling programs at the University of Calgary who are training in psychological/psychoeducational assessment.
