For the small pho, i remember seeing a collection of Pho noodles clumped on one side, and the rest were the yellow chicken broth. The Bun Rieu (Snail & Crab Paste with Tomato Vermicelli Soup) is a little better, and let me tell you, dont let the description deter you away from the bun rieu - it's alright.
