As the population increases, environmental pollution and chemicals are also on the rise. • Only about 5% of the plastic we use is recycled. • Plastic pollution covers an area equal to 88% of our oceans’ surfaces. • 24% of human disease has been linked in part to environmental factors. • About 80,000 new chemicals have been introduced into the environment in the last 50 years.
